Translation:
Chow Gwok Fung: There's a friend who sent a fax asking if Chris could describe how his past girlfriend was like.
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: Waah... that's good.
Chris: Is this true? Let me see...
Chow Gwok Fung: It's not fake.. we wouldn't make this up.
Chris: There's no name on the fax..
Chow Gwok Fung: And there's even English too.. asking something about which character..
Chris: It says, "Which character you like?"
Chow Gwok Fung: Yeah, which characteristic do you like?
Chris: Do you mean a character like Mickey Mouse?..hahaha..
Chow Gwok Fung: hahaha.. are you laughing at the person's English? So let's talk about your past...
Chris: There's not much to talk about... when there are good times, then of course you think everything is good about her, and when there are bad times, then...
Chow Gwok Fung: What kind of characteristics did she have?
Chris: hmm.. she was kind...shy...a good child(?).....but also quite stubborn.
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: This seems to sound like Vivian Chow's style..
Chow Gwok Fung: You always mention her name for no reason....haha..
Chris: She usually mentions her name for no reason.
Chow Gwok Fung: No matter what you say, you'll always say something is just like Vivian Chow.
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: No no..it's just that I always think you (Chris) and Vivian are a very good match.
Chris: Back then, when people saw us, they would want to put us together..
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: yeah, you guys had a Golden Boy and Jade Girl kind of feel.
Chow Gwok Fung: yeah..
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: So how are you and Vivian now?..hehehe
Chris: I know she now has 2 cats..she got another one.
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: oh really?
Chris: She wrote a letter to me.. it's because a friend had...
Chow Gwok Fung: Did she ever paint a painting for you?
Chris: She let me see a lot of her paintings.
Chow Gwok Fung: Her paintings look very pretty.
Chris: She's improving her painting skills. I already planned it out..I told her, "In the future, if you paint a really big and beautiful painting, don't forget to give it to me." ...it's for my new house.
Chow Gwok Fung: so you can put the painting somewhere..
Chris: yes... the value/price of the painting will increase in the future.
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: yeah, it will.
Chow Gwok Fung: She (Sheila) thought about that too..hahaha..
Sheila Chan Suk Lan: yeah, even now, Vivian's paintings could sell at an expensive price.

Chris Wong's 'Unforgettable' concert (November 23)
(abridged version of actual article)

During Chris Wong's "Unforgettable" concert, the guest performers didn't include his good friends from his previous concert, such as Karen Tong, Vivian Chow, etc. Instead, Chris's guest performers were replaced by two first class female singers nowadays, Joey Yung and Candy Lo. However, the biggest reaction from the audience came when Chris was singing his good working partner and best friend Vivian Chow's first hit song, "If You Knew My Reason." The entire audience was clapping loudly when he was singing her song, and one of his fans yelled out without thinking, "Hurry up and get married with Vivian!" If Joe Ngai heard this, he would be furious.

Before Elaine Ho Yuen Ying presented the award for 'Most Popular New Male Singer,' she revealed that years ago when she and Joe Ngai Jan were hosts (of the TVB program 'Jade Solid Gold' during 1991-1992), Joe would often buy ice cream for Vivian Chow to eat. (awww...how sweet!....hehe)

Vivian Chow's paintings received very good compliments; Three paintings displayed at the exhibition got good attention

"The Movement of the Waves" (waves moving up and down)

"Back Alley"

"Looking for Dreams"

After Vivian Chow left the entertainment circle, she concentrated on practicing her painting skills. Her paintings received a lot of good compliments. Last year, Vivian's painting "Old Man from San Geung" won the "New Vision Award." Later on, her painting "Looking at the Past, Looking Towards the Future" was chosen to be in the first "China Water Color Painting of People Exhibition."

Vivian's three new paintings "Looking for Dreams," "Back Alley," and "The Movement of the Waves" were on display yesterday at the "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok - Hong Kong Water Color Painting Exhibition." The paintings were next to the area where the ribbon cutting ceremony took place, which showed that her paintings got wide attention.

The "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok" painting exhibition took place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre exhibition hall in Tsim Sha Tsui, from December 9th to December 15th. There were 42 different artists who took part in this exhibition, with a total of 126 paintings. Vivian's three paintings were all completed this year. The painting "Looking for Dreams" showed an old person sitting in front of a temple sleeping. "The Movement of the Waves" was a painting of a boat that was offshore in Tsim Sha Tsui. The painting "Looking for Dreams" and the painting "The Old Woman at Yung Shue Tau" created by Vivian's painting teacher Shum Ping both have a similiar feeling, which showed Vivian's painting talent.

Can't attend exhibition because she's in Canada
Vivian has shown some success in the painting industry. Yesterday, Vivian was not able to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at the painting exhibition because she's currently in Canada. Actually, when Vivian was in the entertainment circle, she was already considered to be very talented, and she enjoyed painting. After she stepped out of the entertainment business, she changed to developing her painting interest. Yesterday afternoon, Vivian's painting teacher Shum Ping appeared at the exhibition. He was asked about rating Vivian's paintings. He said, "Vivian paints very well. For her painting style, she likes to paint real items and uses enough colors that are bold and mature. When she needed to paint a painting, she would use her camera to take a picture and would then paint the picture. She was very serious about her paintings, becaue she knew she was going to participate in the exhibition." Shum Ping liked Vivian's "Looking for Dreams" painting the most, and was the most difficult to paint. When reporters asked Shum Ping about when Vivian would have her own painting exhibition, Shum Ping said Vivian currently has just a few paintings. She would need to have at least 30 to 40 paintings for an exhibition.

Vivian's painting instructor Shum Ping praised Vivian on her good painting skills.

Vivian Chow becomes a painting artist; her painting was highly praised by her painting teacher

Vivian has 3 paintings in the exhibition. Her painting teacher admires her painting "Looking for Dreams" the most.
(Picture taken in February, 2000)

Yesterday at the "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok" painting exhibition at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, there were 126 water color paintings on display. Recently these past few years, Vivian was learning painting, and she got good results on her paintings. Vivian had three paintings on display at the exhibition. But currently Vivian was in Canada, so she couldn't attend the exhibition. Her painting teacher Shum Ping couldn't stop praising her paintings.

Vivian's three paintings were "Looking for Dreams," "Back Alley," and "The Movement of the Waves." The painting "Looking for Dreams" was a painting of a grandma, and the painting of "Back Alley" was a scene of a street, while "The Movement of the Waves" was a painting of a boat. Shum Ping praised his student (Vivian) for being very serious about painting and being focused. For example, Vivian was very active in doing research and collecting information by going to Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok to take pictures and would then return home to paint. It took her half a year to finish these three paintings.

Paintings were alive
When asked how many points Shum Ping would give to Vivian, Shum Ping said art is difficult to explain, but he pointed out that Vivian is very smart. Vivian has learned painting from Shum Ping for almost 1 year, but her results are already very good. Shum Ping feels Vivian's paintings are gradually becoming more mature. He also highly praised Vivian's style of making her paintings look real, almost as if they were alive and not dull.

The reporter asked Shum Ping if Vivian would be able to have her own painting exhibition. Shum Ping said an exhibition requires at least 30 to 40 paintings, and Vivian has not created enough paintings yet, so it will have to be some time later. Shum Ping also indicated that most of Vivian's paintings use a person as the main subject, and it's quite difficult to paint a person. As for which area Vivian needs to improve on, Shum Ping said it's very difficult to request his student to go in the same direction as him, but the path that Vivian is following right now won't be a big mistake; the most important part is to let things happen naturally, and Shum Ping thinks that painting skills need to be developed over time.

Currently, Vivian Chow is in Canada and can't attend the painting exhibition.

"The Movement of the Waves"

After Vivian Chow stepped out of the entertainment circle, her interest in painting grew stronger. During her spare time, she would practice water color painting. Yesterday at the "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok" water color painting exhibition at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, there were many paintings on display by artists from Hong Kong. Three of those paintings "The Movement of the Waves," "Back Alley," and "Looking for Dreams" were painted by Vivian Chow.

Living in Canada
Vivian is currently in Canada and wasn't able to attend the exhibition. Her water color painting instructor Shum Ping went to the exhibition and highly praised Vivian's paintings. Vivian has learned water color painting from Shum Ping for about 1 year. Yesterday, Shum Ping said, "Vivian has a background in painting Chinese paintings, and she also has a lot of talent. She's very serious about painting and is very focused. She likes to paint people more, such as for example, during this exhibition, her painting 'Looking for Dreams' is a painting of an old grandma. It's quite difficult to paint, but her results are pretty good." The reporter asked if Vivian has the qualifications to open her own painting exhibition. Shum Ping said, "Having your own painting exhibition requires a lot of paintings. I think she currently doesn't have a big enough collection of paintings."

Water color painting instructor Shum Ping highly praised his student, Vivian Chow, for being talented. "Looking for Dreams" painting is in the middle.

Vivian Chow's water color painting becomes the selling point

Vivian Chow's three water color paintings "Back Alley," "Looking for Dreams," and "The Movement of the Waves" (waves moving up and down) were on display today at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre at the "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok - Hong Kong Water Color Painting Exhibition." The exhibition was using Vivian's reputation to bring in people to this event. When special guest Cheung Yau Hing arrived at the event and was looking at the paintings, the chairman explained to Cheung Yau Hing that there were many reporters at the event doing interviews because there were some paintings created by the famous Vivian Chow. At the same time, the chairman introduced Vivian's water color paintings to the friends who came to look at the exhibition, and the visitors praised Vivian's paintings.

Vivian's teacher Shum Ping also had a painting on display. Shum Ping's painting "The Old Woman at Yung Shue Tau" and Vivian's painting "Looking for Dreams" looked alike, as both were paintings of an old woman. Shum Ping came to the exhibition for the ribbon cutting ceremony. He highly praised Vivian's "Looking for Dreams" painting and thought it was the best painting of Vivian's three paintings. Shum Ping said, "It's more difficult to paint a person than a landscape."

Shum Ping revealed that Vivian likes to paint people and real items (not abstract paintings). He said, "I have taught her for more than half a year. She has a lot of talent, probably because she painted Chinese paintings before, so her works of art have her own style, especially when she paints people, who look like they're alive in the painting. She's a very hard working student. She's very serious about painting and very focused." The reporter asked, "When will she have her own painting exhibition?" Shum Ping said, "She's not ready for now." (not enough paintings)

Vivian became successful by concentrating on learning;   her paintings will be at a painting exhibition next week

Although Vivian learned painting from an instructor for only a short period of time, her painting skills improved quickly. (picture taken in October, 2002)

Vivian's three paintings will be on display at the "Hong Kong Water Color Painting Exhibition" this month.
(Note: click HERE for more of Viv's recent paintings)

Vivian Chow has stepped out of the entertainment circle for several years. During these past few years, Vivian has fallen in love with painting and has also concentrated on taking painting lessons from a teacher. Her works of art have been highly praised by some famous painting instructors, and they said she has a lot of talent in painting. Not only have her paintings been displayed in painting exhibitions, she also won an award for her painting at the exhibition. On December 9th (next Monday), some of her paintings will be on display at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui at the "Scenes of Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok - Hong Kong Water Color Painting Exhibition." Vivian is one of the painting artists invited to this event.

"Old Man from San Geung" won an award
This time at the exhibition, Vivian will have 3 paintings on display. Her talented painting skills are shown, with the subjects in her paintings looking alive. Her paintings have been praised by other people. Vivian's water color painting instructor, Shum Ping, will also have a painting on display at this exhibition. Last year at the "Water-based Media Paintings Exhibition," Vivian's painting "Old Man from San Geung" won the "New Vision Award." Afterwards, she had another painting called "Looking at the Past, Looking Towards the Future" and defeated several hundred artists from China by having her painting chosen to be in the first "China Water Color Painting of People Exhibition."

Vivian loved painting/drawing ever since she was a child, and she learned the skill of painting/drawing by herself without a teacher. In order to make her paintings look more perfect, Vivian became Shum Ping's student. After stepping out of the entertainment circle, her interest in painting became even stronger, and she practiced painting water color paintings, oil paintings, and Chinese paintings. While living a peaceful lifestyle, she loves to do paintings at home, but she's a perfectionist and would not publicly show her paintings until she's satisfied with her paintings. Even though she doesn't dare to call herself an artist (painting artist), she still hopes to have her own painting exhibition in the future to show her paintings to everyone.

Chris Wong sings Vivian Chow's song; Being entirely focused in the moment, he laid on the stage
(abridged version of actual article)

Chris Wong's last concert took place 6 weeks ago. During the previous night (11/23), he held another concert at the HK Coliseum and invited Joey Yung and Candy Lo as the special guests. It was a full house.

During part of the show, Chris sang some of the songs of the singers of the past. He sang songs from Teresa Teng Lai Kwan, Roman Tam, Danny Chan Bak Keung, and Wong Ka Kui to show his respect for them. Chris also sang songs of his good friends, and when he sang Vivian Chow's song ("If You Knew My Reason"), he really seemed to be entirely focused in the moment and was lying on the stage.

Afterwards, when reporters asked him about being so focused on singing Vivian's song, Chris laughed saying, "You were all able to notice this? Actually there's no special reason." Vivian didn't appear during the previous night; Chris said she was not in Hong Kong.
